OBG Real Estate, a Dubai-based real estate and master agency company, hosted an Emirates Women’s Day event at its Dubai sales centre, bringing together five prominent businesswomen to share how they achieved success in the Middle East. The gathering, held as part of Emirates Women’s Day celebrations, convened senior leaders from education, government, motorsport, and technology for a discussion on leadership and career achievement across the region.
Emirates Women’s Day, observed annually in the United Arab Emirates, recognizes the contributions of women across the country’s economy and society. By hosting the event at its own sales centre, OBG Real Estate positioned the occasion as part of a broader commitment to championing women’s leadership across sectors beyond real estate.
The welcome note was delivered by Mania Merrikhi, Chief Strategy Officer at OBG Real Estate, who framed the event around the theme of women’s leadership and success in the region. The session was moderated by Shabana Bin Farouq, Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer at URBAN Properties.
Five leaders across diverse sectors
The programme featured five speakers, each sharing her personal journey and career achievements as they relate to success in the Middle East. The line-up spanned education, aviation and government, motorsport, and technology, reflecting the range of fields in which women are holding senior leadership roles across the UAE.
Alissar Nasr, Chief Academic Officer at AMSI Schools, opened the speaker programme with a perspective drawn from the education sector. She was followed by Maha Al Hosani, Head of Government Partnerships at Dubai Airports and Vice President of the Dubai Airport Women Network, who spoke to leadership within aviation and government partnerships.
Maya Derbas, an Arab drift athlete and certified racer, brought the perspective of a competitor in motorsport, a field in which women remain underrepresented across the region. Iman Al Omrani, Chief Digital Advisor at Amazon Web Services, closed the speaker programme with a view from the technology sector and enterprise digital transformation.
Together, the speakers illustrated a common theme running through the event: that leadership and success in the Middle East are being defined across an increasingly broad set of industries, from classrooms and airports to racetracks and cloud technology.
Championing women’s leadership beyond real estate
For OBG Real Estate, the event reflected a positioning that extends beyond its core business. By convening leaders from UAE government, education, motorsport, and technology, the company sought to associate itself with women’s empowerment and community leadership across the Emirates rather than within a single sector.
The company said the gathering was intended to create a platform for senior businesswomen to exchange perspectives on how success is achieved in the region, and to mark Emirates Women’s Day in a way that reflected the diversity of women’s leadership across the UAE. OBG Real Estate served as host throughout, tying the occasion to the Emirates Women’s Day theme of recognizing and advancing the role of women.
The event forms part of OBG Real Estate’s broader engagement with community initiatives in Dubai, reinforcing an association between the company and the advancement of women’s leadership across the Emirates.
